Student classification Change and Affiliated Organization Transfer

 

A. Application period

Within 4 weeks from the date of the occurrence of the event on which their classification change .is based. (For instance, date of employment)

 

B. Application procedure
  • Classification Change
  • Complete application form
  • Obtain recommendations from your academic advisor and the Head of your Department/Division
  • Refund part of the subsidized education fees (including tuition fees, allowance, etc) received from affiliated organization
  • Submit the form to the Department/Division office and get approval for the student classification change
  • Inform the Academic Registrar’s Team
  •  
  • Affiliated Organization Transfer
  • Complete application form
  • Obtain recommendations from your academic advisor and the Head of your Department/Division
  • Submit the form to the Department/Division office and get approval=> the Academic Registrar’s Team (ART) and get approval
  • ART Informs your Department/Division

 

C. Restrictions to change in student classification
  • General scholarship students can not change their classification to national scholarship students
  • KAIST scholarship students can not change their classification to national scholarship students unless research funds supporting them are exhausted.
  • Students receiving national scholarship or KAIST scholarship are required to change their classification to general scholarship recipients once they are employed by an industry organization or their eligibility to receive financial supports from an organization is confirmed.

 

D. Repayment of Subsidized Education Fees
  • In the event that national scholarship recipients or KAIST scholarship recipients change their classification to general scholarship recipients, the students and their affiliated organization must refund part their subsidized education fees (including tuition fees, allowance, etc ) before their classification change
  • In the event, national scholarship recipients changes to KAIST scholarship recipients, the students and their affiliated organization must refund part their subsidized education fees (including tuition fees, allowance, etc ) before their classification change
  • In the event national scholarship recipients who are part of the youth education program change their status to KAIST scholarship recipients, they are exempted from paying back their subsidized education fees (including tuition fees, allowance, etc).
  • In the event that KAIST scholarship recipients change their status to general scholarship students, they have to refund part of their subsidized education fees (including tuition fees, allowance, etc).
  • In accordance with Sections 1,2,and 3 of KAIST Academic Rules and Regulation, repayment should be made based on the program that students enrolled in at the time of their classification change.

  • When students’ status changes to KAIST scholarship students

    • 3. Transfer Agreement (applicable to general scholarship students)
    • 4. A written covenant
    • 5. Other documents (One copy of legally sealed certificate of the affiliated organization)

  • Affiliated Organization Transfer
    • 1. Application for Affiliation Transfer [go to form]
    • 2. Transfer Agreement
    • 3. A written covenant
    • 4. Recommendation for admission
    • 5. Certificate of employment
    • 6. Statement of reasons (not applicable to students who apply within 4 weeks)
