Information on the issuance of certificates
Ways to applying for certificates
A. At the Academic Registrar’s Team
Certificate Types (Korean/English): official transcript, certificate of enrollment, graduation/degree conferment, expected graduation/degree conferment, course completion
B. Via automatic issuing machine
Location: Lobby of the Creative Learning Center (E11)
Issuing method: Insert 1,000 won bill or coins and enter your student number and identification number for certificates.
Hours of operation: 24 hours a day.
*However, the card key is needed to get into the building after 7:00 p.m. Mon-Fri, and all day Sundays and public holidays
C. Internet application
Connect to http://kaist.cerpia.com, sign up for the membership, and apply
Fees can be paid by credit cards or by cell-phones
D. Postal issuance
Fill in application form (student ID, identification number) provides at the post office (any post office in Korea) and pay service charge of 500 won per copy (same for Korean and English), seal and send the form to KAIST with the return mailing address.

F. Service charge
Basic fee is 500 won per copy
Course completion certificates for Master’s and Doctoral programs cost 1,000 won per coy.
G. Important notes
- Students who are expected to study at overseas universities: If universities request your certificates to be sent directly to them from KAIST, please refer to the mailing procedure below:
- 1. Purchase an airmail envelope on which the school name ‘KAIST’ is printed. (Airmail envelopes can be purchased at the Academic Registrar’s Team)
- 2. Put the issued certificates in the envelope
- 3. Close up the envelop, get the official Seal of the Dean of Academic Affairs(issuer) from the Academic Registrar’s Team from, and mail it yourself.
- Please call ART and change your name on the KAIST student list in the even that your English name on the list is not the same as that on the passport.
- Please call ART in the event that the machines can not get the certificates issued due to malfunctions of the issuing machines.
- If you want your certificates to be issued at ART, you have to fill out a separate application form, get a signature from your academic advisor, and visit ART in person..
