Introduction to Global e-Learning Center

Global e-Learning Center (a.k.a., CyberKAIST), founded in 2000, provides online education for professionals working at domestic and international companies and research institutes to update and maintain their expertise by keeping abreast of rapidly evolving science and technology.

Many KAIST courses are offered online and made to VOD(Video On Demand) files so that students can access to those classes without time and place restrictions. Therefore, online classes are particularly convenient for students located in remote places and working professionals who cannot make it to regular class hours, as on-campus students can also reinforce their learning by repeating their courses online.

Global e-Learning Center offers two types of education programs: Academic and Professional Programs. The Academic Program consists of one-term-long courses recorded from regular face-to-face classes.

The Professional Program, on the other hand, offers short-term and special courses. A short-term course is a compact course on newest technological developments and current research issues in the science and technology fields, whereas a special course is composed of compiled contents extracted from a number of Academic Program courses according to topics and each student's own educational needs.

KAIST's Global e-Learning Center is also equipped with an excellent e-learning system that includes e-classrooms and video conference facilities. Our video conference facilities enable students from all over the world to connect to KAIST and participate in online classes and discussions.

Since its establishment in 2000, Global e-Learning Center has provided convenient, high-quality education for working professionals at a number of domestic IT companies and research institutes such as Samsung Electronics, Korea Telecom, SK Telecom, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute(ETRI).

Now in concert with KAIST's vision of becoming a global hub of science and technology research and education, Global e-Learning Center is expanding its services to overseas. In particular, a talk is in progress with a number of foreign universities about the import of KAIST's e-learning system and online education contents. KAIST's interactive online courses by top-notch professors offer an easy solution for countries in need of good-quality education.
