Constructing a Venture Ecosystem
  • Since the mid 1980s KAIST has made the foundation for venture companies with KAIST alumni at the center of it all, and in 1994, KAIST becomes the first university in the nation to create KAIST TBI (Technology Business Incubatory/TIC (Technology Innovation Center). Accordingly, KAIST has become the cradle for our nation’s venture companies by playing the leading role and carrying out duties such as various start-up programs and systematic support and fostering of technology ventures.
  • With support from the Ministry of Science and Technology, the New Technology Start-up Support Center was created at KAIST in 1997.
  • By creating the Technology Competitiveness Assessment Center and Technology Transfer Exchange Center in 2002, KAIST creates and vitalizes an educational network, and through various operations is able to create the foundation for technology transfer and commercialization within Daedeok Innopolis.
  • In 2006, the New Technology Start-up Support Center changes its name to the Office of University-Industry Collaboration, and establishes a Technology Hospital to spearhead difficult technology and pursue collaborative projects with industryhttp://ouic.kaist.ac.kr
  • Selected as the Best Start-up Incubation Center by Association of Asia Business Incubation (AABI) in 2007.
  • Selected as an excellent institution by the Small and Medium Business Administration of Korea in 2012.
