Founded in 1998 at CHiPS (Center for High Performance Integrated Systems) SSL has shown
lots of amazing results despite its short history. We design SoC (System-on-a-Chip) and
other high speed/low power VLSI circuits. Also we propose and realize new architectures to
integrate all components on a chip.
There are three parts that we concentrate on. We have developed portable 2D/3D graphics
chips in which processing units and memories are intergrated together to reduce power
consumption - Ramp. Also we have reported the on-chip network architecture and its chip
implementation for a system integration platform - BONE. Bio microsystems which interact in
human body consuming low power are also being studied.
All our research has been constantly realized in custom chips with cooperation with Samsung,
Hynix, Anam, Dongbu, and other electronic and semiconductor industries. As a result, more
than 30 chips have been completed. All results are constantly published in the renown
international societies such as the ISSCC, and become IPs through patents inside and outside
of the country.
Through abundant research facilities, confidence and teamwork between the professor and the
students, we are getting the most out of ourselves; working as professionals, and living as
professionals.
SSL will lead the world in system IC technology by solving all the problems related to circuit and
system design.
