Junggo-je Pansori is a school formed about 200 years ago based on Chungcheong-do that follows Seong Ok Kim from Nonsan Ganggyeong and the master Gye-dal Yeom’s singing style from Yesan Deoksan. The Pansori has been passed down to the present from the Go-je period that first started to the Junggo-je, the Dongpyon-je in the Jirisan area and then the Seopyon-je which was formed around the southern coast of the Jeonnam Boseong. The Pansori Junggo-je of Chungcheong is one of the oldest classics in Pansori. The Junggo-je is approached with simple beauty which holds the strong and virile original method of pansori, while modern Pansori values sorrow and mourning with the transfer of emotions, emotional appeals and fine art-centric splendor. The Jonggo-je Pansori, currently left, is the Jukgyuk-ga originally from the master Dongbaek Lee’s Chang-bon (Book of Pansori editorials) which is the only Pansori that handed down directly to Seong Ok Kim, Jeong-geun Kim, Dongbaek Lee, Kwang-Su Jeong and Sung Whan Park.
