Privacy Policy

Information Disclosure Policy

Public organizations should open information that the organizations possess and or manage for ensuring the general public’s rights to know. The opening of information promotes civil participation in government affairs and transparency of government administration.

Citizens including corporate bodies and foreigners may apply for copies of information. Applicants should submit a written request for the information disclosure. Applicants should provide their names, ID number, and address in the written request form. They may send in the request by postal mail, fax, or through the website . The organization that receives the request will decide whether to disclose the information within 10 business days.

If the information is related to a third party, the organization that received the request should notify the third party immediately. If necessary, the organization should collect the opinion of the third party. If the information is produced by a different public organization, the organization should decide whether or not the information can be disclosed after receiving feedback from the organization that produced the information.

The third party that received the request for disclosing the information may decide not to so within three business days from the day the request was received. The public organization may establish an Information Disclosure Review Committee to examine the disclosure request case.

Privacy Protection Policy

This policy discloses the privacy practices for www.kaist.ac.kr, the website of KAIST. By using this website, you are consenting to our collection and use of information in accordance with the Personal Information Act. This website has appropriate security measures in place to help protect the information in accordance with Article 29 of the Personal Information Act. This policy may be amended and any changes will be announced on this page. The effective date of this policy is May 30 .

We and third-party contractors collect certain information regarding your use of this website, but you will remain anonymous and the collected information will not be used for any other purposes than those described in the policy. We will not share, sell, or authorize any third party to use your information for commercial purposes.

User information may be shared with third-party contractors to the extent necessary to provide and improve web services, other communications to users, and for the process of users’ transactions. KAIST prohibits any third parties from receivinge user information for this purpose and from using or sharing user information for any purpose other than providing services for the benefit of our users.

We may also provide user information to third parties in circumstances where we believe that doing so is necessary or appropriate to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process, or government request; detect, prevent or otherwise address fraud, security, or technical issues; or protect our rights and safety and the rights and safety of our users or others.

Once the objective of the personal information is met, the information will be immediately destroyed. However, certain information will be retained for the indicated period of time in accordance with the rules and regulations of KAIST.
